Discover Peru Through Its People

Go beyond the landmarks and connect with the communities, traditions, crafts, and everyday lives that make Peru extraordinary.

Customizable cultural experiences designed by our Cusco-based team for travel agencies and tour operators, with local participation and thoughtful logistics.

Why Peru

Living traditions, personal connections

In Chinchero and the Sacred Valley, textiles carry knowledge of natural dyes, weaving techniques and locally meaningful designs. Community-led encounters make room for the people behind the work to share their own perspectives.

On Lake Titicaca, an overnight stay offers a different rhythm from a day excursion. Meals, conversations and time with a host family can introduce travelers to agriculture, household routines and contemporary life on the lake.

From Lima's creative neighborhoods to Andean artisan workshops, Peru's cultures are living and evolving. We shape programs around host consent, fair compensation and clients who value listening as much as exploring.

Trade planning essentials

Traveler fit
Curious FIT travelers, families, students and cultural groups comfortable adapting to local routines.
Duration & destinations
Short workshops, half- or full-day encounters and overnight homestays; core destinations are Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Puno.
Accommodation expectations
Community homestays offer simple rooms and home hospitality. Confirm bedding, bathrooms, hot water, heating and dietary arrangements individually; do not assume hotel standards.
Group sizes
Small private parties are generally easier to integrate. Capacity is host-specific; larger groups may require split activities and accommodation across several households.
Languages & interpretation
Hosts may speak Quechua, Aymara or Spanish, depending on the community. Request guiding languages and interpretation when briefing the program.
Activity & accessibility
Walking, uneven paths, steps, boat boarding and basic facilities vary by site. Assess access requirements before proposing a specific community or household.
Consent & cultural etiquette
Activities depend on community agreement. Ask before photographing people, homes or spiritual practices; respect private spaces and any decision not to participate.
Fair compensation
Agree hosting, guiding, meal and workshop fees in advance. Optional purchases should never be a condition of participation.
Educational groups
Define learning aims, supervision, safeguarding and age-appropriate participation. Community visits are not a substitute for structured service-learning arrangements.
Lead time & confirmations
Request early planning for homestays, specialist interpretation and groups. Confirm host capacity, community permissions and any applicable entry requirements; regulatory requirements are subject to current official regulations and must be verified at booking.
Practical information

Plan for place, pace and participation

Altitude & pacing
Cusco is approximately 3,400 m and Puno approximately 3,800 m. Allow appropriate acclimatization time and a gentle start before demanding walks or lake excursions.
Machu Picchu extensions
If included, coordinate advance ticketing, entry circuits, timed admission, trains and onward transfers. Access and guiding restrictions are subject to current official regulations; verify at time of booking.
Transport & remote logistics
Regional combinations may require domestic flights or substantial road transfers. Lake homestays involve boats and onward walking; confirm luggage arrangements, weather contingencies and return connections.
Seasonality
The Andean dry season, generally May–September, often supports outdoor visits; wetter months can affect paths and boat plans. Farming activities follow local crop cycles, while Lima's coastal winter is often overcast and its summer warmer.
Responsible participation
Prioritize host-led exchange, fair treatment of guides and local teams, and minimal waste. Do not promise access to ceremonies or private spiritual practices; photography and participation require permission.

FAQs for travel professionals

Can these experiences operate privately or for groups?

Both formats can be proposed, subject to host agreement and suitable capacity. Small parties are often easier to accommodate; larger groups may need split workshops, staggered visits or several host households. We confirm a workable format rather than assume a standard group limit.

How much can programs be customized, and who are they suitable for?

Duration, learning focus, pace, guiding and hotel or homestay combinations can be adapted for FIT travelers, families, students and cultural groups. Host preferences set the boundaries of participation. Share mobility, dietary and supervision requirements before selecting activities.

What should clients expect from a Lake Titicaca homestay?

Expect simple family-hosted accommodation, locally prepared meals and cultural exchange rather than luxury amenities or a staged schedule. Bathrooms, heating, hot water and dietary flexibility vary and must be confirmed. An overnight stay requires different luggage, boat and household arrangements from a hotel-based day visit.

How far ahead should agencies book, and which season works best?

Start planning early for overnight hosting, groups, specialist guides and holiday periods; lead time depends on the proposed arrangements. The Andean dry season generally favors outdoor activities, but agricultural experiences follow local crop cycles. Weather and community calendars can change the final program.

Are guides and interpretation included?

Guiding and language support are specified in each proposal. Depending on the destination, hosts may speak Quechua, Aymara or Spanish, so direct conversation may require interpretation. Request other guiding languages early; these are not assumed to be available.

What permissions, etiquette and logistics need confirmation?

Confirm community consent, any local access arrangements, boat routing, walking demands and accommodation details before sale. Ask permission before photography and respect private or spiritual activities. Any applicable permits and entry rules, including those for a Machu Picchu extension, are subject to current official regulations and must be verified at booking.
